In full bloom - Claire Ridley lunches at No. Fifty Cheyne in London's Chelsea

Champagne at No. Fifty Cheyne in London's Chelsea

Editor Claire Ridley was invited to London's popular Chelsea-based restaurant No. Fifty Cheyne, a flower-filled setting on the bank of the River Thames.

Restaurant goals

Claire says, "I was excited to visit this restaurant and wedding venue for lunch and it's easy to see why it's a popular spot. It's located on Cheyne Walk, a stone's throw from the iconic River Thames, with Chelsea Embankment Gardens close by. Not only is it a wonderful choice for a wedding celebration, but it's also the perfect pick for a pre-wedding lunch or dinner (their Weekend Roasts are a must-try!)

The talented team at No. Fifty Cheyne is currently celebrating The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 throughout May with a special set menu available from Tuesday 21st May until Saturday 25th May priced at £45 for two courses and £55 for three courses.

Lunch at No. Fifty Cheyne in London's Chelsea

A foodie heaven

No. Fifty Cheyne serves a modern British menu created by executive chef Iain Smith. A highlight for me was sampling the Taste of Fifty set menu in the sumptuous setting of the main dining room and bar situated on the ground floor of this split-level property.

A dining experience here isn't to be missed, where fantastic food that's prepared with fresh ingredients on the open grill is paired with champagne or fine wine.

I tucked into the tasty Isle of Wight asparagus and Cornish crab mayonnaise starter accompanied by pea and mint purée, pickled cucumber and blood orange with sherry vinegar jellies. This was followed by the poached fillet of Cornish cod with langoustine risotto as the main course paired with squid and piquillo red peppers with sea beet leaves. Other delicious main courses on the Taste of Fifty menu include Landes French chicken breast and wild nettle and parmesan gnocchi. After enjoying a flute of Ruinart Brut Champagne, there was just enough room to try the delicious Kentish strawberry soufflé for dessert presented with white chocolate sauce, strawberry jam and shortbread crumb. The ideal summer dish, it reflects the establishment's seasonally changing menu.

Inside No. Fifty Cheyne

The sky's the limit

This wow-factor wedding venue, which can be transformed to suit many themes but doesn't need much extra décor with Insta-worthy floral touches at every turn, is perfect for city lovers wanting a chic central spot to host their special day. Couples can hire the private Drawing Room located on the second floor that reveals views stretching across the River Thames and Albert Bridge which looks oh-so-romantic illuminated at night.

This glamorous setting can host up to 150 loved ones for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and reception and a small gathering of 30 people can be welcomed next door in The Ruby Bar for drinks and canapés. Couples who book their wedding at No. Fifty Cheyne will collaborate with executive chef Iain to craft a menu designed for themselves and their guests which can include a sharing feast menu.

The Vineyard is a semi-private space draped in vibrant seasonal flower installations which accommodates an intimate 32 loved ones for a cosy seated reception. A colourful floral archway flanks one end where a smaller soirée of just 16 guests can gather for an intimate post-vow dinner. Alternatively, exclusive use can be arranged for couples wanting access to the entire restaurant.
